Strengthening Families, Building Skills: Family UNited Training in Kuching

OAPTAR is pleased to host the three-day Family UNited Training, conducted in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Kuching, Sarawak. The training brings together participants from diverse professional and community backgrounds who share a common commitment to strengthening families and supporting the wellbeing and healthy development of children and young people.

Over the three days, participants are engaging in an interactive and experiential learning process involving group activities, discussions, skills practice, reflection and practical application. Beyond developing knowledge and facilitation skills, the training has also created valuable opportunities for participants to exchange experiences, learn from one another and build new professional connections.

Family UNited is an evidence-informed family skills programme designed to strengthen parenting and family relationships, enhance communication, and support positive family functioning as important protective factors for children and young people.

OAPTAR extends our sincere appreciation to UNODC and the trainers for sharing their expertise and guiding participants through the programme, and to all participants for the enthusiasm, openness and energy they have brought into the training room.

We also acknowledge our OAPTAR team working behind the scenes to coordinate and support the programme.

For OAPTAR, capacity building does not end when a training programme concludes. We look forward to staying connected with participants, following their progress and supporting opportunities to translate learning into practice within families and communities.

Stronger families contribute to stronger, healthier and more resilient communities.
