OAPTAR conducts a wide range of activities across schools, families, communities, and professional service settings. These activities reflect our commitment to strengthening prevention, treatment, and recovery through evidence-based, culturally responsive, and community-driven approaches.

School-Based Activities

We work closely with schools, teachers, students, and counsellors to support mental health, wellbeing, and protective behaviours through:
  • Social Emotional Learning (SEL) workshops
  • Peer Helper & youth leadership sessions
  • Mental Health Carnival activities
  • Classroom-based wellbeing activities
  • Substance use prevention awareness campaigns
  • School-wide wellness events
  • Pre- and post-assessments for students
These activities build safe, connected, and supportive school environments.

Family & Parenting Activities

OAPTAR runs engaging family sessions designed to strengthen relationships, improve communication, and enhance emotional bonding. Activities include:
  • Family Wellness Programme (Keluarga Sejahtera) sessions
  • Family Day workshops
  • Parent–teen communication activities
  • Caregiver stress management sessions
  • Family bonding exercises
  • Culturally adapted family engagement tools
These activities promote harmony, resilience, and healthy interactions in the home.

​Community-Based Activities

We collaborate with local communities, indigenous groups, NGOs, and grassroots leaders to build safer, healthier environments. Our community engagements include:
  • Community mental health literacy programmes
  • Youth empowerment workshops
  • Indigenous and rural wellbeing initiatives
  • Community mobilisation and awareness sessions
  • Outreach activities for underserved groups
  • New community programme pilots and innovations
Our community activities ensure that no population is left behind.

Treatment & Recovery Support Activities

  • Recovery coaching and support sessions
  • Peer support training and mobilisation
  • Treatment programme strengthening workshops
  • Aftercare and reintegration support activities
  • Organisational strengthening sessions for treatment centres
  • Networking among recovery communities
These activities help individuals and agencies strengthen their journey toward healing and resilience.

Professional & Workforce Development Activities

We conduct numerous activities for educators, counsellors, social workers, and practitioners to ensure a high-quality DDR workforce. Activities include:
  • Evidence-based training workshops
  • Training-of-Trainers (ToT) programmes
  • Prevention science capacity-building sessions
  • Treatment & rehabilitation training
  • Recovery support professional development
  • National and regional training collaborations with UNODC, ISSUP, APCD, ARN
These activities strengthen Malaysia’s national capacity in prevention, treatment, and recovery.
