Courtesy Call on the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports

On 4 August 2026, a delegation from OAPTAR paid a courtesy call on YB Tuan Mordi anak Bimol, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports and Member of Parliament for Mas Gading, at the Mas Gading Parliamentary Service Centre in Bau.

During the meeting, we updated YB Mordi on OAPTAR’s work in Bau District, including our initiatives in substance-use prevention, mental wellbeing, family strengthening and community capacity-building. We also shared some of the progress and lessons emerging from our engagement with schools, families and local communities.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to explore how OAPTAR, as a Sarawak-based organisation, could collaborate with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to support the implementation of Rakan Muda programmes in Sarawak—particularly initiatives that strengthen young people’s resilience, promote healthy lifestyles, and prevent substance use and other related risks.

We deeply appreciate YB Mordi’s warm reception, interest in our work and commitment to strengthening opportunities for young people. We look forward to continuing the conversation and exploring meaningful areas of collaboration that can contribute to the wellbeing, leadership and positive development of youth in Sarawak.
